THE CONNAUGHT RANGERS AND THE IRISH IN WORLD WAR I
November 10th, 11th & 12th 2013
Markree Castle, in conjunction with the Connaught Rangers Association have arranged a series of talks and events to allow enthusiasts, members of the association at home and abroad, and the public alike the opportunity to discover more about the Irish in the Great War of 1914-18 in general and the Connaught Rangers in particular. The aim is to enthuse members of the general public and the Irish diaspora and allow them to uncover the World War I past of their own families and also to allow current members of the Connaught Rangers Association the change to celebrate the regiment’s rich heritage in this the year of The Gathering.
This event, with a series of talks and the opportunity to look at military records and have memorabilia identified will take place over 3 days in November, culminating with Remembrance Day celebrations at King House.
Connaught Ranger Archivist and Historian will be on hand to answer queries about ` relatives and advise on memorabilia each morning
